Secret castle ruins

„A quick gentle hike up the grassy hill with a buggy, supplies and a lot of enthusiasm led us to beautiful views opening all around us. We entered a little secret world of an old castle ruin with 360 degrees views of magnificent countryside at the top, a small manor farm house being repaired outside castle gates by volunteers by bare hands, lots of shaded areas to make a little day camp and even a perfect designated bbq area.

We walked around the castle hill for about 45mins, set up a picnic zone afterwards, grilled Slovak sausages and bacon in open air, then hiked up a small hill in another 15mins and were rewarded by fantastic views, peaceful atmosphere and barely saw a soul (this was in June 2019). Our 1 year old slept through lunch in his buggy and then happily explored sticks, grasses and soaked up this unique hidden gem. We bought some cold drinks and postcards of the place from the little manor house souvenir shop – it’s completely non-commercial, that little money goes all into repairs and the whole experience felt like we were let in on a secret.

I can’t wait to book more trips with Eva, as aside of all the beautiful and not so obvious locations she can take you to, she is not only very knowledgeable but also one smiley, fun, bubbly ball of energy that’s an absolute pleasure to be around.

Highlights of Slovakia

“Evi is an excellent guide. She showed us her country with a lot of passion. We visited some nice places in Slovakia, I think we wouldn’t have visit those places if we would have been in Slovakia without her, because we wouldn’t know about those places. Having a guide who knows where to go is worth the money. It also helps that she speaks the language. She can also tell you which restaurant is good, where you can go for dinner or so.

As she knows your interests, she knows what she can propose to you, and she can adapt to the situation : like one day we were supposed to go hiking but it was raining all day so she suggested to go to a SPA, which was nice. You won’t regret working with Evi, you will have an excellent trip in Slovakia.”

The high mountains in Slovakia

“When I approached Eva from ‚Slovakia Undiscovered‘, I asked if she would be willing to organise a guided mountain hiking trip in the High Tatry region for 8 people. Without hesitation she started planning this accordingly. However, as our group ranged from 7-70 years of age and with different abilities, this was not an easy task. While Eva went above and beyond and carefully planned to meet the needs of every member of our group with such enthusiasm and dedication, and with a few routes to choose from, they were suitable for everyone.

Thanks to Eva, we were able to experience by far the most spectacular and breathtaking views along the way of the mountain lake ‚Popradske Pleso‘ and together with short breaks to refresh ourselves and to taste the traditional cuisine offered by the local Koliba. We explored so much over the two days in the nature of this magnificent beauty, and as the company’s name states ‚Slovakia Undiscovered‘ we will certainly be back to see more.

We would not have experienced this hidden gem of the High Tatry without Eva’s hard work and professionalism, but most importantly Eva’s cultural diversity and friendliness“
